Gone Skiing
February 1, 2003

...so who said this had to be chronological, eh?

Tried out "eastern skiing" at Plattekill Resort, about 3 hours away. We were fortunate enough to have some fresh snow, and found some nice (but short) runs at this rustic resort. It reminded Casey of the old Powderhorn back home (before the Texans took it over, hehe). We had gone to a place called Windham a few weeks earlier, and found it expensive, crowded, and snobby. Plattekill was just right.

A view of the mountain. And the parking lot.

Stefano cleans the van off so we can drive home...

Our day of skiing was dampened, however, by the tragic loss of the shuttle Columbia, which we watched from the lodge. Being children of the 80's, it was like losing an old friend. Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of the crew.
